Week 24, Thursday

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another: By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
John 13:34, 35

The Youtube phenomenon of spreading a video worldwide in minutes is astonishing. Never before could a message or experience be spread so widely and shared so quickly. Some Youtube personalities have made fortunes, changed careers, and even obtained sponsors because of their growing popularity.

Just as Youtube fans are awaiting the next great video, youth culture is awaiting the next great icon. The world is mesmerized by heroes willing to go the extra mile or achieve greatness through extreme commitment. Where are the people willing to live this epic lifestyle that stands against the tide of mediocrity?

While the world waits, comfortable believers lie silent with a virally explosive message that will meet the deepest needs of humanity. We know that the majority of our morally deficient world is lost. Clearly, people are aching to find significance. Who will start the next ministry that spreads across the globe and meets this need for the glory of God?

Once people find salvation and significance in Christ, they should readily share their journey. As recipients of such great love, we must, in return, express this love to others. For this message to go global, we must allow the Holy Spirit of God to fill and use us. The word filled in the original language (Ephesians 5:18) means to “be possessed fully by” or “influenced fully by.” Maybe there is a group within this generation God is calling out to take a stand. Perhaps there is a person willing to sacrifice and be the tool through which the Gospel goes viral in our love-deprived world.

Father, may my generation never be content with the desperate conditions of our culture. It is clear that caring for the souls of Your creation is countercultural. I declare today that my heart belongs to You. When people ridicule me I will gladly stand. If I must battle alone, I will stand honorably. No matter what this sacrifice costs me, I will go, so that others might find the love I’ve experienced in You. Amen.
